I’d Rather Be Wearing: Anthropologie

March 4, 2010

On Tuesday night I had a strange dream that I was shopping at Anthropologie (I’ll spare you the details of WHY I randomly decided to go shopping in my dreams), and with my plans on Wednesday evening cancelled, I decided to treat myself to the beauty of such a delightful store. The creative handmade window designs are my favorite displays in the whole city, highlighted by the breathtaking classical French architecture of the four story building that this store occupies on the corner of the park. Every time I walk into Anthropologie I just want to move all of my stuff in and stay forever. One day when I’m financially capable of affording something more than thrift store gems, Gap basics, and H&M fashion pieces, I hope to fill up several graceful wardrobes with stunning clothes from this store. With that said, I made sure to check out the sale section and was pleasantly surprised with a couple of finds including:

One of those little life pleasures for me includes a comfy nightie. This light and breezy house gown beckoned to me from the sales rack, and with the promise of it fitting I resolved to buy it and dream of warm spring and summer days lounging around the house, walking around in this slip and a pair of socks with my messy hair up drinking cups of tea and reading worn Jane Austen paperbacks. I was also thrilled to find this little clutch for a delightfully criminal $14.95!

These days I’m really into the cluch or handbag. It’s both modest and elegant, and so much easier on the shoulders. Not to mention a shoulder bag, book bag, or gigantic hobo bag can really mess up the complete look of a well chosen outfit if they aren’t properly matched or proportioned. At least purse-wise I look pretty low-maintenance (as long as you don’t realize that I own way too many). Of course, there were so many things that I envied, but left behind in the store including these beauties:

Extra Goodies: Black & White floral arrangement via Martha Stewart Weddings, Black Wedgwood Teapot via Amazon.com, Patterned Clutch via tagodesign on Etsy, Leatherbound Sketchbook by moonbindery on Etsy.

I’m really itching for the arrival of Spring, and can’t wait to take off some of these thick layers in warmer weather!
