Custom Orders!
24 Feb

So far about half of the books I’ve made have been custom orders – either through etsy or by word of mouth. I enjoy making custom orders with specific people in mind, it’s just that more personal – which is what this whole handmade thing is supposed to be about right!? Last night I put together the first 8 x 10″ hardcover sketchbook in my collection.
This one is 50 sheets (100 pages) with one of my Buenos Aires photos on the front and back covers (yay for large format printers!!). It’s made generally the same as its smaller predecessors, but requires a little more work when sewing/binding and obviously gluing. Total about 3 hours in the making. I still feel a little swell of pride when looking at my finished pieces the morning after. Anyway – this one will be hand delivered and given as a birthday present tomorrow – how cool is that!?
I’m definitely interested in adding larger books and maybe even photo albums to the collection. Yesterday I went a little nuts at the art store and bought several different kinds of paper. I also got a call from FedEx saying they were trying to deliver my new paper cutter, but had the address mixed up. OY VEI! Time to go make another to-do list!
